  • In the late 1940’s, early 1950’s, plastic became inexpensive to make, and the country went wild for plastic! It was right after WWII, and folks were tired of traditional, so embraced the novelty of all things plastic with great fervor! Not everyone was sure how to make the transition, so you find all sorts of traditional shapes done into non-traditional materials – LOTS of fun jewelry made from all kinds of plastics. This pin is such a piece, and quite rare, especially in this condition! It is made from hard plastic, whose real name is “Styrene”. It is a molded plastic in a dark rust red, with a wonderful iridescent gold wash. And most fun, the two birds have wonderful googly eyes! These are little plastic bubble disks that have a little bead inside that bounces around, giving the birds a rather startled expression! The pin is charming, and really wonderful. It is a novelty pin, worn by young and old! It is fairly large, measuring 2 1/2″ across. It has a plastic pin back (the pin is metal, but the mechanism is plastic that just says “Patent Pend”. I don’t know who made it, or where it was made. It is a charming piece, that won’t disappoint. It has no damage – no cracks or missing parts, and the color is good with no chips or issues. I have lots of great novelty jewelry as well as vintage craqfts and holiday items for sale, so take a peek!

    About Us
I have been an antiques dealer for over 30 years, and an Ebay seller since 2001. I specialize in vintage holiday decorations, and vintage craft items. I also like kitschy religious items, so sell those as well! I have written a number of buying guides, so take a look at my Ebay page. I guarantee authenticity on everything I sell. If I am selling a newer item or a reproduction, I will state it clearly in the listing. I have spent many years studying my specialities, and feel comfortable in guaranteeing my listings. You as my customer are the most important facet of my busines. I try and respond to every message within a few hours.
    Contact Us
If you have any questions about me or any of my items, please contact me through the Ebay messaging system. This will ensure that I get your message in a timely fashion! I prefer that you do not contact me via phone. I live way out in the country, do not have a home phone.
